MORE and more Boroondara families are relying on grandparents to take on babysitting duties, leading to the emergence of a new type of playgroup. Bowen St Community Centre is the latest organisation to set up a grandparents-only playgroup, with the group kicking off on August 17. The idea had its genesis with grandparent Maggie Lindop who said the purpose of the playgroup was so children could get much needed social interaction with children their own age and grandparents could discuss any issues that may arise.
